The Green Carpet Gala

A national awards night to unite, celebrate, recognise and reward the Australian Taekwondo community.

The night is about connecting and coming together to recognise and celebrate the accomplishments and achievements of our athletes, coaches, clubs, referees and volunteers for their significant contributions to Taekwondo. Further, the night officially opens the Australian Taekwodno National Championship.

Each year, our national awards night unites and recognises the wider Australian Taekwondo community and celebrates our winners and finalists. This annual event is Taekwondo's night of nights, much like other sporting codes. A limited number of tickets are available, including the option for clubs to purchase a club table (10 seats) at a discounted rate. Tickets go on sale when finalists are announced.

The Lauren Burns Medal

The Lauren Burns Medal was introduced in 2022 as Australian Taekwondo's pinnacle award presented to Australia's best taekwondo athlete.

Australian Taekwondo felt it only fitting that the Athlete of the Year Award should take the name of our most recognised athlete whose gold medal at the Sydney 2000 Olympics changed the course of Taekwondo in this country forever. Lauren worked with us to design a medal that truly represented taekwondo and a moment in history that will forever live on.

Club tables

Club tables seat 10 people and are a cheaper way for club members to access a ticket. We encourage clubs to consider getting a table for their members.

Individual tickets

We encourage members to speak with their club first to see if their club is purchasing a table, as this is a cheaper way to access a ticket.

This evening is a fully ticketed event (no walk-ins). The price includes a 2-course meal, basic beverages, and entertainment. Guest names for tables and dietary requirements are required at the time of booking.
