Kukkiwon International Courses wrap up in Melbourne

1 October 2023

Australian Taekwondo members from across the country converged on Melbourne last week to participate in the highly-anticipated Kukkiwon International Master Course and Poom / Dan Examiners Course.

Held at the prestigious Manningham Hotel in Bulleen and conducted by the esteemed Kukkiwon World Taekwondo Training Institute, this marks the second triumphant instructor training course undertaken by Australian Taekwondo this year.

The benefits of these courses are to enhance the Master's capability by accurately delivering a set standard Taekwondo curriculum worldwide, consolidate the techniques of Kukkiwon and contribute to expanding global Taekwondo by unifying Taekwondo skills and techniques.

Participating in a professional-level Kukkiwon course in Australia is indeed a rare opportunity. These courses, like the one in Melbourne, offer a remarkable platform for Masters to advance their skills and enrich their Taekwondo experiences, all while enjoying the camaraderie of fellow members.

Australian Taekwondo extends this unique opportunity to its lower Dan level holders, recognising the importance of nurturing grassroots and community instructors and providing them with invaluable developmental experiences.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Hugh Eagling, the Chair of Australian Taekwondo, whose invaluable contributions have been instrumental in organising the Melbourne course. We also express our appreciation to the representatives of the Kukkiwon World Taekwondo Training Institute, including Kim Sei Hyoek (President of WTA), Kang Jae Won (Chief of WTA), Kwon Hyung Nam (Pro. Poomsae), Kim Bong Hwan (Pro. Theory), Jung Bong Hyun (Pro. Self Defense), and all those who led individual sessions.

We look forward to providing our members with more opportunities to participate in these courses in the future.

We acknowledge that our office is spread across many traditional lands, and we pay respect to all traditional owners of these lands and elders past and present.
