Update: Paris Olympics & 2024 G-ranked Open events

11 December 2023

Australian Taekwondo is pleased to provide an important update to the Nomination Criteria for the Paris Olympic Games. We note that at clause 6.12 (a) these Criteria state:

2024 Defined G-ranked Open events:

Australian Taekwondo wishes to confirm the addition of the following two events to clause 6.12(a) of the Nomination Criteria for the Paris Olympic Games:

We also provide strong direction that athletes seeking Olympic nomination should participate in these competitions in their respective Olympic Weight Category world division. For clarity this means:

  • An athlete seeking Olympic nomination in the -49kg female Olympic division should compete in the -49kg female division at the above competitions, not in -46kg or -53kg. This equally applies to all other athletes competing in minus weight categories, notably;
  • -57kg Olympic division athletes to compete in the -57kg division at these competitions, not -53kg or -62kg
  • -67kg Olympic division athletes to compete in the -67kg division at these competitions, not -62kg or -73kg
  • -58kg Olympic division athletes to compete in the -58kg division at these competitions, not -54kg or -63kg
  • -68kg Olympic division athletes to compete in the -68kg division at these competitions, not -63kg or -74kg
  • -80kg Olympic division athletes to compete in the -80kg division at these competitions, not -74kg or -87kg.
