Concussion is a major public health concern for athletes who participate in combat sports.

Australian Taekwondo and Southern Cross University have come together to collaborate on a research project to explore concussion knowledge and understanding within the Australian Taekwondo community. The research aims to enhance concussion education and improve safety in our sport.

Australian Taekwondo is seeking athletes who are over the age of 18, currently training or competing in Taekwondo within Australia to consider participating in this research. By doing so, your involvement will:

  • Enhance concussion awareness: contribute to improving concussion knowledge and management practices in Taekwondo.
  • Promote safety: help develop better protocols and educational programs to ensure the health and well-being of athletes.
  • Inform policy development: influence the creation of evidence-based policies that prioritise athlete safety.

What’s required:

  • Complete an online survey which will take approximately 10 minutes.
  • The survey includes questions on demographics information, training experience, concussion history and knowledge and attitudes towards concussion.
  • Participation is entirely voluntary,
