Australia Shines at the 2024 World Poomsae Championships with Record-Breaking Performance

The final day of the 2024 World Poomsae Championships capped an incredible campaign for Australia with another Bronze Medal triumph in the U50 Male Team category. Jiheon An (MTF VIC), Minseung Choi (Songs TKD VIC), and Sukwon Choi (JMT Taekwondo QLD) showcased their talent, advancing to the semi-finals before falling to the eventual Gold Medal winners from Korea.

Other Australian results on Day Five included:

  • Cadet Pairs: Danielle Kim and Joshua Kim (Kangs TKD NSW) bowed out in the Round of 16.
  • U30 Pairs: Elena Zhao and Andy Yang (King Tiger NSW) exited in the Round of 32.
  • U65 Individual Female: Cheri Parks (Swordsman Martial Arts QLD) competed valiantly, finishing in the Round of 16.

The Bronze Medal on the final day contributed to a historic achievement for Australia at the World Poomsae Championships.

Australia’s final tally:

  • Medals: 3 Silver and 4 Bronze
  • Quarterfinals: 2 (5th place finishes)
  • Numerous tightly contested matches against eventual Gold Medal winners in the preliminary rounds.

In total, 14 Australian team members secured 15 medals, highlighting the depth and strength of the squad.
