In the lead-up to this year's Australian Taekwondo National Championships, Performance Pathway athletes had the opportunity to attend a training camp with one of Taiwan's top University Teams - Taichung University, between the 5th -11th of September.
Taichung University Taekwondo Team Head Coach, Liu Wei-ting (2 x Asian Championship medallist and Olympian, Rio, 2016, -80kg), brought 11 university team athletes to train with our Performance Pathway athletes (and also punched on with our Australian athletes himself) focusing on technical work, scenario drills and sparring drills, with all athletes competing in a fight day with electronic KPNP + DAEDO systems.
Over 40 Australian athletes participated throughout the course of the week with Performance Pathway athletes, Performance Pathway training partners, and Performance Pathway coaches travelling from QLD, NSW and ACT to be part of the experience.
Combat AUS, Australian Taekwondo Victoria and former Olympians provided assistance in training, venue access, equipment, electronic systems tech support, referees and mentoring to provide our Performance Pathway athletes with the best opportunity for their development. One step closer to Brisbane 2032!
