Australian Taekwondo extends its heartfelt congratulations to President Jean Kfoury on his recent election as Vice President (Oceania) for the Commonwealth Taekwondo Union (CTU). This prestigious appointment reflects Jean’s long-standing dedication to the sport and his leadership within the Taekwondo community.

The elections took place in Chuncheon, Korea alongside the World Taekwondo General Assembly and 2024 Junior World Championships.

The Commonwealth Taekwondo Union aims to promote Taekwondo across Commonwealth Nations, with the goal of revitalizing the organization and making it a valuable asset to its Member National Associations (MNAs). Another key objective is to prepare the CTU for a bid to have Taekwondo included in the 2030 Commonwealth Games.

Speaking on his appointment, Jean Kfoury said, “It’s an honor to represent Oceania in this vital role. I look forward to working with the CTU to strengthen Taekwondo’s presence within the Commonwealth and to achieve our goal of bringing the sport to the 2030 Commonwealth Games. On behalf of Australian Taekwondo, I extend our congratulations to all members elected to the Commonwealth Taekwondo Union”.

The results of the World Taekwondo MNA Survey were published as a part of the General Assembly, with Australia proudly ranking 8th overall following assessment on areas including Governance, Transparency, Integrity, Democracy and Development.
