Why should I have Taekwondo at our School?

As educators, you understand primary school students benefit from developing and exploring fundamental movement skills and expanding their physical literacy. We believe that this focus supports whole-of-child development and movement for life. Taekwondo is uniquely positioned to deliver on these benefits through the Taekwondo.

How is Taekwondo Kickstarters run?

6 lessons of approximately 45-60 minutes per lesson that is adaptable to suit individual school requirements.
Each lesson consists of a warmup, fun games and technique development. All activities have been designed to cater to students of varying abilities and ensure maximum participation.
Emphasis is placed on the teaching of positive student messages including wellness and anti-bullying themes.
No specialised equipment is needed to deliver the activities - all that is needed is cones!​

What skills will students learn?

Aside from all the program benefits outlined above, students will also learn key fundamental movement skills to aide in their physical development. These fundamental movement skills have a specific focus to encourage age appropriate learning that is aligned to the Australian Curriciulum. This is outlined below.
Year 1 & 2
Perform basic skills and sequences. For example, perform the execution of one skill such as a side kick then progress this to performing two skills consecutively such as a front punch into a side kick.
Year 3 & 4
Refine fundamental movement skills as well as movement concepts and strategies. This would include carrying a basic pattern or punching and blocking sequence combination combined with the ability to articulate what they are doing.
Year 5 & 6
Students in this group are expected to perform specialized movement skills and propose and combine movement strategies. Students should aim to carry complex movement sequences.
