National  Policies & Guidelines 

In Taekwondo, courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control and indomitable spirit should guide all students and instructors. Our members should amplify these values, and those of Australian Taekwondo, to ensure a safe, respectful and welcoming martial art and sport for all. Australian Taekwondo takes a zero-tolerance stance with respect to abusive language, behaviour and harassment, regardless of hierarchy. 

To protect the integrity of Taekwondo in Australia and ensure a safe, fair and healthy environment for everyone, Australian Taekwondo follows Sports Integrity Australia's National Integrity Framework - the standard of behaviour accepted within our sport and martial art - and applies to club owners and instructors, athletes, members, coaches, referees, volunteers, parents/guardians, and employees. The minimum sanction is three (3) months, with sanctions now enforced for any policy breaches. Review these policies and guidelines regularly for updates relevant to clubs, members and fans.

How we communicate policy information with you

Every club and member is responsible for providing accurate contact details on our National Membership System (NMS) so we can inform you of important information, like governance and policy updates related to your membership. Your club may choose to list its club email or head instructors email address instead of an individual member's email address, which makes it difficult to communicate critial information to individual members. In this case, the onus is on the club or head instructor to pass on the information. Australian Taekwondo takes no responsibility for emails not received by a member due to the above or incorrect contact information being on the NMS.

Events of National Significance 

An event of national significance requires National Team selection. Our selection policies ensure a transparent, fair process to identify the most capable athletes and support staff for Australia. Policy information is updated as confirmed by the relevant governing body or agency.

Australian Taekwondo Member Policies

Australian Taekwondo Member Policies safeguard and protect members to ensure an environment that is fair, safe, and enjoyable for all. Societal norms have changed when it comes to appropriate behaviours, and Taekwondo is no different. Inappropriate behaviour has no place in Taekwondo, and Australian Taekwondo enforces a zero-tolerance policy on abusive or aggressive behaviour, regardless of hierarchy, with sanctions now enforced.

Codes of Conduct

Our Codes of Conduct set the behaviour standards for all participants and attendees at Australian Taekwondo events. Breaches are sanctioned based on their nature. Detailed compliance information is in the Codes of Conduct and AT's Member Protection Policy.

Team Selection Policies

Team and staff selection policies provide a fair and unbiased selection process, which facilitates the selection of the best team of athletes and support staff who will potentially achieve the best results when representing Australia.

Membership Policy

This policy outlines membership acceptance and application for Australian Taekwondo, detailing membership classes and eligibility. It complements the membership clauses in the Australian Taekwondo constitution and club subscription requirements.

Personal Grievances Policy

This policy, adopted alongside the National Integrity Framework, establishes a formal process for resolving interpersonal conflicts and disputes in Taekwondo that do not involve a breach of an Integrity Policy.

Team Selection Appeals Policy

The Selection Appeals Policy outlines the process for appealing selections for all Australian Taekwondo teams. It provides a clear framework for addressing grievances, ensuring fairness and transparency in team selection decisions.

Privacy Policy

Our privacy policy details how Australian Taekwondo collects, uses, stores, and protects personal information in compliance with the Australian Privacy Principles and the Privacy Act 1988. 


Social Media Policy

Our Social Media Policy sets protocols and expectations for members and affiliates, promoting safe, fair, and respectful conduct on social media. It aims to protect the community's integrity and foster a positive online environment.



Event Organiser Policies

These policies are specifically for affiliated clubs and state taekwondo associations and provide standardised procedures and requirements for tournaments and events run at club to the state level.

Endorsed Event Minimum Standards

The National Endorsed Event Minimum Standards establish standardised procedures and requirements for tournaments from Club to State level. These standards apply to all State and Club events endorsed by Australian Taekwondo and the relevant State Body.

Endorsed Event Policy

The Australian Taekwondo Endorsed Event Policy provides clarity and guidance for Member Clubs hosting events outside regular activities. 



 

Sport Integrity Australia Member Policies

Sport Integrity Australia leads a national approach to protecting the health and welfare of athletes, sport, and competition—from grassroots to elite levels. These policies are relevant to anyone involved in taekwondo.

Safeguarding Children & Young People Policy

The Safeguarding Children and Young People Policy sets out the process for responding to and reporting child abuse allegations and details child safe practices which need to be adhered to.

Competition Manipulation & Sport Gambling Policy

UPDATED 01/03/24
The Competition Manipulation and Sport Wagering Policy prescribes prohibited conduct in relation to improperly altering the result or the course of a sporting activity, betting on a sporting activity or disclosing inside information to obtain a benefit.

Improper Use of Drugs & Medicine Policy

The Improper Use of Drugs and Medicine policy seeks to protect the health and wellbeing of athletes and mitigate the risks to sport of the misuse and administration of drugs and medicine in the sporting context.

Anti-Doping Policy

The Australian Taekwondo Anti-doping policy is the Australian National Anti-Doping Policy. This policy is effective from 1 January 2021 and can be found on the Sport Integrity Australia website. All members, participants and non-participants in the sport of Taekwondo are bound by these rules.

The Member Protection Policy sets out expectations and behaviours to ensure everyone involved in Taekwondo is treated with respect and dignity. The policy deals with prohibited conduct that is defined as abuse, bullying, harassment and sexual misconduct.
